Care of Retired Sisters

Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur receive no support for their ministries or personal needs from any diocese in which they live and work.

The Sisters are and have been entirely responsible for their mission and ministries which include caring for the most frail Sisters.

Costs for Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in retirement health-care exceed $3 million annually.

Sisters receive nursing support for chronic health needs as well as light assistance with the activities of daily living. Ranging in age from 70 to the early 90’s, all contribute in some way to the life of the community.

As Sisters are living longer, there is a growing need for locations where they can live safely and in circumstances adapted to their physical capabilities. Many of the Sisters, even in very advanced years, can live in safety and comfort with light assistance and so are not even eligible for skilled care.

We want to do everything possible to ensure the Sisters can continue to live with a degree of personal independence and quality of life.

Your help would be so appreciated. If you are interested in making a donation to support the care and needs of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in retirement, please contact the SNDBC Development Office at 443-884-9936.
